Well, I was about to throw in the towel Friday after finding a pee puddles a few times and he didn’t even say anything about it. Well, I send as SOS email to my friends and got some tough love and a reality check. I see now that I a.)wasn’t committing 100% to doing this and b.) that I really needed help. Everyone was saying that I really need to stick to Tyler like glue – the more successes, the better. So Chris and I did that and gave him lots of liquids. I think he did really well. We still had a few accidents, but did run out to Souper Salads to pick up some food and grocery shopped at Whole Foods today without incident. He even went to the bathroom while at Souper Salads.
The reality is that this is going to be a long process. Even after he is “potty trained”- there will be a mix of him initiating and us doing it. We will have to help with his clothes and clean up afterwards. I was excited when the other day he walked into the bathroom upstairs and lifted the lid attempting to go himself. I am going to get a stool and a seat that fits on large potties for him. I think it a month or so he can handle that and will probably like that (I know I will like that everything just goes directly into the big potty so no dumping, etc.)
Nevertheless, I think I, like the other mommies in my group, will prefer the work this requires as opposed to diapers. After two years of changing diapers on him, I am ready for something new. A friend is coming over tomorrow morning to help me. With two kids, there are inevitably moments where I can’t watch Tyler. Also, being stuck inside, it will be nice to have some company.
So positive news on this front – I will keep y’all updated!

Have I already written about how Tyler has been a challenge lately? He is in some phase right now. Oddly, the more he drives me crazy, the more protective I am of him. I guess I know what to expect and I worry about others reaction to his behavior. I don’t know where he is right now and don’t understand his behaviour myself, so I feel awkward when he is with other people. I can’t really offer much advice just yet.
He is starting to want more control and is really asserting himself. He is doing the textbook – you are not paying attention, so I will destroy something. He is starting to hit us more and squeeze our arms. It is like he is testing something with that. I see that when is energy is high – like after a game of chase – he wants to hit. It is like he doesn’t know how to calm himself.
{sigh} I really want to blog more, but I have some phone calls I really need to make. So I will sign off for now.

Well, yesterday was Saturday and Chris was moving around a bit. I switched the homeopathic remedy that I tried Friday afternoon/evening and it worked. I had done a full repetiore sheet on Chris and selected one remedy. I went to the store and bought that one, but also bought a popular flu homeopathic that people swear by. After two or three doses of the popular remedy, Chris was still in much pain. So I spoke to a homeopath and People’s Pharmacy to see if switching to the remedy I had repetoired was recommended and she told me to go for it and to give it every hour for 4 doses until I see a shift. Sure enough, after the 3rd dose the pain was easing up. I should have gone with my gut and given that one originally. It would have been interesting to see if I would have seen a shift in his symptoms sooner.
Chris was trying to help out a bit more, but I discouraged from doing too much as he still doesn’t have much energy and I didn’t want him to slide backwards. He did me the huge favor of looking after Quinn (she took a late nap and wasn’t ready for bed yet) while I got Tyler down for the night. Thankfully, Tyler didn’t nap and was up really early, so he crashed in minutes after I turned off the light. We love the way he easily falls asleep when he doesn’t nap, but the numerous meltdowns beforehand is a clear indication that he still needs that midday nap.
Chris’ main symptom now is a stuffy nose, way better than his whole body aching and a pounding headache.
I am hoping that my brother will take Tyler on an adventure this morning to help get him out of the house. Being homebound due to weather is fun – but I think it will be moreso when the kids are older and we can all play board games together and watch movies, etc.

So Sun Harvest didn’t have any appealing flavors of Ben and Jerry’s. So I decided to try a Rice Dream frozen dessert instead – they had a chocolate flavor that sounded yummy. {sigh} Well, I tried to like it, but it just didn’t give me that same satisfaction….
Just saw a commercial for Ghiradelli chocolate……mmmmm..cravings….

Okay, I am now caught up on udpates. Chew slowly – maybe spread them out over a day or two. Today’s starts with “It doesn’t take long”, so you will need to go to the bottom and click “Previous Entries” to get there. As the week starts, my time and energy will dwindle. And needing to make holiday cookies, well, blogging will take a back seat. Have some more photos to post and will do so over the next couple of days.

I wanted to see how Quinn would do in the Chariot in her infant sling. The sling itself crowds Tyler, but they still took a walk in it together. In fact, Quinn fell asleep.
Q: “I love riding with my big brother!” T: “Mom, she takes up a lot of room…”

Had a big breakfast – apple oat pancakes with turkey sausage. Topped the pancakes off with applesauce (yummy!) That really set me up well for the rest of the day. I ate a small lunch with Tyler, but didn’t do as well in the afternoon. I really need to make sure I have an AM snack, a good lunch, a PM snack and then dinner.
Did pretty good with water – definitely downed a good bit while the kids were asleep. Painted my toenails tonight which is a good me thing. It is now 9:20pm. I am tired, so I am going to eat/drink a little more and then go to bed.
