I had such a blast right before bedtime with the kids the other night.  The whole family was in Tyler’s room.  Quinn was playing with Daddy and I was playing with Tyler.  First, we were trying to convince him that the bear on his pajamas was a turkey and that Chase was a cat.  Then Tyler and I were just having fun hugging and snuggling.

Then he created this very fun game with some hangers and this “boulder” from his quarry set.  For about ten minutes Tyler and I were whacking the ball back and forth with these hangers.  It actually  began with him having a hanger and us tossing the ball.  Then he modified the game stopping it to get me a hanger and deciding that we should instead hit the ball back and forth with the hangers (kind of like croquet).   It was great fun!

When he and I were just rocking back and snuggling, I kept thinking to myself, “this right here is the good stuff.  This is what life and family is all about.”

Yesterday, Tyler wanted an apple…and so naturally Quinn decided she wanted one too.  The kids took their apples and headed back to Tyler’s room.  I was in the kitchen and needed to get something from the office.  On my way there, I passed Tyler’s room and heard the following from Tyler”

“Quinn, when I am an adult, I am not going to marry you because..I don’t like the things you are doing right now.”

{I pause}  Apparently, he was wanting her to play a game with a large cardboard tube and she either didn’t want to play with him or wasn’t doing exactly what he wanted her too.   I leaned in and told Tyler that one really doesn’t marry his sister, but usually someone else and that Quinn will always be his sister.  And I left it at that.   Cracked me up….
