Scary Night with Tyler

March 24th, 2006 by Alyssa

Our poor litle guy woke up around 9pm. I went into the nursery and this awful smell hits me. I turn on the light to find Tyler on his back covered in vomit and vomit all around him. It was a scary sight. We got the bed cleaned up and gave him a bath. I held him for a while and then was nursing him on the couch and he seemed to be falling back to sleep. Then, lo and behold, again he vomits all over himself, me and the couch.

Chris and I are wondering what is going on here? Tyler has never done this before…. We called my friend Susan to get some advice as they went through rotavirus. This time we bathe Tyler but leave him naked in blankets in case we are in for more. I nursed him back to sleep in bed with me.

Thankfully, there were no more episodes and he slept pretty well last night and woke up in a normal mood. He had no fever before, during, after or this morning. We are just thinking he ate something that sat terribly wrong with him. Today we are feeding him simple, bland foods to give his tummy a break and giving him a probiotic to get some good bacteria into his system.

I think we will still go out of town this weekend unless there is another episode today. Everyone keep your fingers crossed! Poor little guy…..

P.S.
We sold our office desk, so our desktop computer is currently dismantled hence no ability to download pics. I have a cute one of Tyler pointing at a picture of his Daddy and will post and soon as I can get it off the camera…

Just Call Me Daddy!

March 23rd, 2006 by Alyssa

OK, this is taken from a chapter heading of one of my favorite books, “Let the Baby Drive”. I use it because I can relate so well. Tyler loves to call his Daddy “daddy” and when Daddy isn’t around…he calls me “daddy”. He teased me yesterday. When I pointed to a picture of me in our wedding album, he said “mama”. OF course, he then pointed to his Daddy and said “mama”, and then his Grandma Wiley, and then his Uncle Bryan and then his Great Uncle Dean. {sigh}

Getting Close
He seems to be getting close. In the car he started saying “mama” on the way from playgroup and I said “That’s me!” I said that a couple of times and then he started saying “me!” over and over. Oops..

One day soon hopefully…..otherwise I guess I will celbrating Father’s Day with Chris!

Getting the Hell out of Dodge!

March 23rd, 2006 by Alyssa

Well, after two crappy weekends weather-wise, we KNOW for sure there is a good one coming up and we wanted to capitalize on it. So we have decided to spend the weekend in Fredericksburg. Ironically, we may be headed up there for Easter as well, but we love going up there!! There is always so much to do and so much for Chris to photograph. We have been so busy busting our butts with projects, I thought we just needed to get away from it all and just be.

Anyway, I found a great guesthouse in the country with a king-size bed and 100 acres on which Tyler can tire himself out. The great part is we have the place all to ourselves. Did I mention the pink heart-shaped whirlpool tub? Chris gagged when I showed it to him, but the rest of the place is sweet! We are talking about doing Enchanted Rock and may try to catch a sunset up there if everything works out. We will probably do some early wildflower hunting and may check out LBJ park. And since we are staying at such a cool place, we just spend some time relaxing out there. Here are some pics of the guesthouse named “Peaceful Hills“……aaaahhhhhh.

A Great Porch

Great Spot to Relax in the Evenings

A King-size Bed to accomodate Chris, myself, and our little bedhog…

OK, this image sold the Pregnant Lady (never look for lodging when you are hungry!)

Here is the Heart-shaped Tub (I knew you would want to see it!)

New Sandals for Tyler…..

March 23rd, 2006 by Alyssa

I know – what? MORE shoes? Well, here is the deal. Tyler LOVES water and when he sees a body of water be it a pond, puddle, creek or lake – he wants in. After two days of getting his new tennis shoes wet and muddy at Bull Creek and playing in puddles at Zilker Park, it was apparent he needed sandals. I guess the biggest issue is that his shoes get wet and aren’t always dried by the next day. Then he has to wear his old Robeez which are getting a little short for his feet.

So off we went to our favorite shoe store, Sandy’s, to get some sandals. We had tried on some baby Tevas at REI, but his feet are just too wide. Anyway, here are his new sandals!

Go! Go! Go!

March 23rd, 2006 by Alyssa

Oh my god – where did this energy come from? I am loving it. In fact sitting here at work when I know I could be getting other things done is killing me. I painted more bathroom this morning. Yesterday afternoon I sold CDS, went through books we are recycling, selling, throwing away and set up Tyler’s playroom. It is coming together.

I mentioned yesterday that I was a little disappointed in the playroom, but I think it is just fine now. We had Tyler’s friend Piper come over yesterday since it was too cold to go outside. They kids played happily up there for over an hour while Susan and I sat on our butts and chatted. And let me tell you – to find a way to sit on your butt for even 2 minutes with an active toddler is a miracle in itself. It has been kid-tested and approved I think. Yeah!

Good Morning People!

March 22nd, 2006 by Alyssa

God, last night was a whirlwind in the best way! We sold the bedroom furniture we had put on Craigslist, the folks who bought our office desk came and picked it up, and the person who bought my poster picked that up! Woo-hoo! So nice to get all that stuff out of the house!

This morning before work I was painting our bathroom. I am trying to get it done before the weekend. I am on a tear right now to get as much done BEFORE I am done with work. I don’t want to pile too much during that week off, so the more I get done now the better. And I have energy right now – you never know how long that will last, so I have to capitalize on it.

The only room that is a little disappointing to me is the playroom. It is really a crazy hodgepodge of a room. Of course, my husband, who is the voice of reason pointed out that this is a “temporary” playroom. He is right – Tyler likes playing in it eventhough the current bedding clashes with the room. As long as it serves its purpose I guess….

Well, I have a bunch of email to send out, so I need to scoot, but I might post more later.

Quick Musings

March 21st, 2006 by Alyssa

Not much to report accept the following:

– Tyler is getting another molar. Actually, the points have already broken through. I am really surprised it hasn’t upset him more. Maybe since the ear infections and getting the top two molars at once – the pain of this one just isn’t a big deal?

– Our microwave died this morning. There was a loud pop when Chris was warming his breakfast and then it worked but ceased to heat. Don’t know if we will fix it or buy a new one. Depends on the cost. Our handle broke off a while back, so it would be nice to actually get a new one and have a handle again……

– Chris and I got a wild hair and have decided to get the heck our of dodge and head to Fredericksburg for the weekend. We have had two weekend of crappy weather and the upcoming one should be beautiful. Thought we would get away from all of our projects and just enjoy the georgous spring weather while it lasts. Ironically, we might be returning to Fredericksburg over Easter to stay with some friends – we just love it up there.
