This past Sunday, my Superfriends mommy group got together for a bruch without our kiddos. The Daddies were all at Susan’s house holding down the fort with the chidren. We had a great time talking about politics and a variety of different things while enjoying the delicious brunch at Chee Zee. It was a lot of fun and as predicted, we have decided to make this a monthly thing.

Rotavirus Sadly Followed
The day of this brunch, we were so worried about one Mom who couldn’t make it because her child had to be rushed to the ER. Turns out that he has a nasty case of rotavirus. Then slowly other parents and children in the group started popping up with it. I am thankful to be on the side that so far has been spared, but feel awful for those who are suffering through. Rotavirus entails lots of vomitting and diarrhea for the babies and a lot of tears of pain and discomfort. Hopefully by the weekend everyone will be in the clear and feeling tons better!

Sorry, no pics today. Didn’t have time to upload any last night. Very excited because tonight is my sewing class!! Looking forward to learning some fundamentals hoping that one day I might be able to produce some stuff half as good as my Mom and Nana. There are three classes total, so three nights off for me!
Chris has been and is being amazing this week. Last night he took Tyler all night after he was home so I could cook my butt off in the kitchen. No I didn’t relax, but that time allowed me to get into bed at a half decent hour. He will have Tyler all tonight as well. Good Daddy and son bonding time.
Anyway, will keep it short today. Take care!

I forgot to mention this! Saturday our friends came over with their two-month old baby girl. It has been so long since I had held a baby that little. I was showing my friend how to wear her baby in a sling and was holidng the baby for a while. Tyler saw me holding this baby and was NOT happy about it! He was very distressed and started to fuss. Chris and the other Daddy took him outside to play for a while.
Even after he came in, he started “showing off” which for Tyler is holding up toys and showing them to our friends. He then toddles over to my friend and just stared at the baby for a while.
Apparently, there is a book called Raising Cain (not the scary one related to the movie with John Lithgow) about raising boys. My friend saw a television show on the book that talked about a study where girls where much more tolerant of their Moms with second babies and the sons having a much harder time with it. After hearing Tyler’s reaction, my friend said that Tyler’s reaction was textbook down to the showing off.
It really took me aback. I realize that I have a lot of reading and strategizing to do before this baby comes to ease us all (especially Tyler) into this transition.

Thought this was funny. These days I have to run the restroom quite a bit (that whole pregnant thing) and I need a “safe” place to keep Tyler for a minute. Some days that “safe” place is the tub believe it or not. He is right next to me and is excited to visit his tub toys for a minute!

This weekend seems like it was as crazy as the last, but maybe we were just sleep deprived at it went by so quickly? Tyler has a pretty crazy night Friday – those top molars are peeking through.
Crazy Nights
These days Tyler wakes up 2 to 3 times a night. The first and second waking (if it happens) are usually not to bad. That last one is a guaranteed hour these days. Chris thinks it is becuase he is in pain because the ibuprofen has worn off. Some days yes, others though, he just seems awake. The wierd thing is that after nursing he pops off and seems to want to lay down or if you are holding him, he dives off sideways eyes shut ready to go to bed. However, when you lay him in the crib, he gets very agitated. There has been a lot of back patting, back massaging and singing going on lately. Chris rubbed his back for 45 minutes the other night. Every time he stopped, Tyler whined! He likes a good massage! I have tried putting him back in bed with me, but the results aren’t any different.
Also fighting sleep again
The last three nights, Tyler was wide awake at 7:30pm. Very different from the last two weeks. He has been going to bed at 8:45pm. Don’t know again if this is molars or related to the fact that he is about to walk. I have always heard that the only constant is change – and there is nothing like a child to drive that point home! :-p
Fun with Apples!
So I am feeding Tyler pieces of apple for a snack. He sees the remaining whole apple on the counter, points to it and says “dat!”. So I thought I would go ahead and give it to him thinking he would suck on it or something.
Lo and behold, he eats it just like an adult! We never eat apples like that (I always get the skin stuck in my teeth!) Anyway, it was the most hilarious thing and the following photo session ensued. I loved every shot – unfortunately, they came out a little blurry. I couldn’t pick a favorite, so I am posting them all. These are all so Tyler, so our little angel boy who makes us smile and laugh every day!

Well, Tyler’s days at daycare are numbered as I will be at home after March. Honestly, I am a little sad. He really loves going to Little Muchkins. Ahide, the kids primary caregiver, has been with him since September (and the rest of the kids since July) and is truly a second Mom to all the kids. They get upset when she leaves the room!! I took some cute pics when I went to pick him up on Friday. You can see their cool playroom and Tyler at play. All the kids are on the verge of walking, so in about a month or so, the kids will start going out on the playgroup which I know they will love!
The kids cool Playroom! (The toybox and other push toys are off to the right. I totally want our rec room to be fun like this!)

He took them today! Many times! I went to pick him up at daycare and when he saw me he let go of his push toy, took two steps, and that plopped on his butt. Later this evening, he was using his push toy in the house. Again, he stepped out and took two steps in the direction of the entertainment center. Later, Chris said he took several more steps unassisted. My God, this kid will be running tomorrow!!! It is happening so fast and is very exciting!! Tyler on the loose is a little scary for me – babyproofing will have to be stepped up a notch – but I know the freedom to explore his world will make him so happy!!
Superfriends Rule!
I belong to the most amazing mommy playgroup. I had a very tired night with Tyler, but left the playgroup feeling so energized. The mommies are so open, honest and hilarious! We are all getting together for a “Mommies Day Out” brunch on Sunday! Dads watch out, because if we have as much fun as I think we will, I am sure this will become a frequent event!
