7 weeks and 2 days

November 8th, 2005 by Alyssa

That is how far along I am. Kind of was hoping for 8, but I will take 7. My due date is June 26th. Some folks joke that I should be ready a month before, but who knows, this stinker may decide to take his or her time coming out.

That is where I am. I think I am past all the tiredness and nausea as the last couple of days I have felt “normal”.

I am pretty excited and a little freaked out. I know that due date will be here sooner that I know. With a Tyler around, I know that it will fly by.

That is news for now!! I will try and find some time to post some Tyler pics soon.

I feel normal!!!

November 7th, 2005 by Alyssa

OK – my last pregnancy was a breeze save for two weeks in the first trimester – and even those weren’t that bad compared to most standards. The last two weeks I have been so tired and/or I was getting nausea. I have been eating out a great deal which hasn’t been great for the pocketbook, but as been easier on my stomach since I can eat was it tolerable.

Last night I felt so good, so I went and got a few things done. Today I have felt great – so far anyway. I am hoping that I am almost out of that phase and hope that this pregnency mirrors that last one. Given that I now have a child, it would make life a lot easier.

Here is hoping anyway!

Soft Landings…

November 6th, 2005 by Alyssa

So as I had previously mentioned Tyler has been pulling up on everything. Well, I guess early on, Tyler realized he could get stuck in a standing position, so he should figure out how to get back down. About a week ago, he would pull himself to standing and then stick his butt as far out as he could as slowly lower himself down onto his well-cushioned cloth diaper bottom. It was so funny to watch. He is a pro now. I feel a lot more at ease about his pulling up, because he is really good at just plopping down on his bottom and it doesn’t seem to upset him.

Now I am trying to help him to learn to go down the step to our sunken living room backwards. Once I get him into position, he does great, but on his own, it doesn’t occur to him to turn around. Makes sense – kind of couterintuitive that way…

One of my favorite things he will imitate is swaying side to side. If you sway, he sways side to side with a big smile on his face…so funny….

So much to love..

November 4th, 2005 by Alyssa

Bath Time
Mom once again took our parenting of Tyler to the next level. We had been bathing him in his bath seat for most of his life. He was definitely growing out of it. Mom told us to just lay a towel down in the tub and sit him down. Well, we have put a bath mat down and now he sits in the bath. He roams around the tub pulling out the stopper and trying to eat the soap! :-p He will pull himself up and drop toys over the other side of the tub. He tries to drink the soapy water and will suck on a washcloth with soapy water… silly child!!

Little Hands
When I am nursing Tyler, I love when he lays his little hand on my arm. There is something about that little hand grabbing onto me that just melts me. When I nurse him lying down he will lay his hand on my tummy – it is so cute!!!

Oh, we got his first school pics back today – I will post them soon!

Shake, Shake, Shake….

November 3rd, 2005 by Alyssa

Tyler loves to shake things! He will pick something up and I will start singing “Shake, Shake Shake… Shake, Shake, Shake…. Shake your {whatever he’s holding}, Shake your {item}” It is so funny and he gets so excited. He has the blocks – some make noise and some don’t. It is funny to watch him pick them up and shake through them to find the noisemakers.

Open, Close, and Light Switches
“Open, Close” continues to be a popular game around the house. SO much so that Tyler gets really ticked off when a door doesn’t move. Our carpet is so think that some doors require more effort to open. When he doesn’t have the strength to move them he gets pretty dissapointed.

He is also adept at pushing light switches down. I don’t think he has the off/on connection yet nor does he get pushing them up. They are always good entertainment for him.

Doorknobs
He has also started reaching for doorknobs. If he has pulled up on a door, he will sometimes reach up for the doorknob. Or if I am holding him in front of a door, he will reach down for the doorknob. He doesn’t have the turn motion yet, but I guess he has figured out they do something cool because Mommy and Daddy use them all the time.

Still love watching him inspect and manipulate
It is so fun to watch him inspect objects and manipulate them. He will sit there so intent and fascinated. I guess I also enjoy those times because he will actually sit still for 5 minutes, so I can relax on the couch and watch him exlore his world.

He is such an amazing little boy. He is pointing and talking like crazy too. I am going to have to start getting creative these days, because he is pretty bored with his environment. Probably a good thing as I am sure I haven’t tapped into my creativity in a long time. How to captivate a 12 month-old for a period longer than 5 minutes; that is my new challenge! :-p
