Everything goes into his mouth…

June 22nd, 2005 by Alyssa

Tyler’s Daddy and I were having such a good time taking pictures of him that we didn’t notice the ink on the brochure was running because of Tyler’s drool. So, when we took the brochure away, he had a black chin from the ink… Bad, bad Mommy and Daddy. Thanksfully, it washed off fairly easily and there were no ill affects from it….

Too Cute….

June 22nd, 2005 by Alyssa

Just had to post some other cute things that Tyler does:

– his little feet are always wiggling. Chris was giving him some Tylenol last night and his feet were just moving in little circles. I just love it.

– I guess Tyler has decided that his hands in mouths other than his own is fun too. The other day while nursing he put his hand to my mouth. I was “bopping” my lips over his hands – he thought it was pretty amusing. He was cooing and smiling. I will miss all the cute noises he makes once he starts talking…

Ya know, this post needs a picture with it – I am going to add one when I get home….

…and here it is:

A tooth is coming! A tooth is coming!

June 22nd, 2005 by Alyssa

Yup, we confirmed it this morning – a little tooth is beginning to emerge from Tyler’s gums. Poor guy has definitely been feeling it too. It is quite exciting although we will be happy when the painful part is over.

Solids going well
Tyler likes mashed potatoes! We introduced that last night. I want to introduce peaches Thursday and then green beans or tofu this weekend. I am getting excited with the variety of things he eats. I love planning his meals and cooking them. Just another way I am able to nurture my little one! Baby food is really easy and fun to make! It tastes good too – I try some of everything he eats. May I just say that he absolutely loves my sweet potatoes! :-p

Note to anyone making baby food: do not process potatoes in a food processor – it gives them the most bizarre sticky, plastic-like consistency.

I will post some new pics of Tyler tonight! I wanted to yesterday, but was feeling really ill and went to bed at 9pm. Feel much better today. Anyway, check back tomorrow for some new, fun shots!

Onto Neo Soul

June 21st, 2005 by Alyssa

So looking for more club music, thought about Pharcyde and that song Passing Me By. I had heard that song somewhere and couldn’t remember who did it. Racked my brain for months – you should have seen me trying to sing it to Chris.. Anyway, he finally figured it out for me. Well, Rhapsody didn’t have it, but that led me to a live song by the Roots and Jill Scott (You Got Me). She is so amazing….she has a great song called “Golden”.. Both her CDs are fabulous.. Think I will also listen to some Erikah Badu too…

A little club music please….

June 21st, 2005 by Alyssa

Needed some good awake and alive morning music…thought about “I’m Walking on Sunshine”. Well, my Rhapsody search brought me to Walking on Sunshine by J. Lo. (They don’t have the Katrina and the Waves version). Anyway, listening to the remix of that….some great club music.. I used to stream this great club music station before I had Rhapsody. It was soooo energizing! Ya just feel GOOD!

Well, we are in our second week of swim lessons. It was only Piper and Tyler last night. They were in great moods so we had a great time. At the end, we had them facing each other and they were talking to each other and splashing… Tyler like to kick more, but when he sees Piper splashing he decided to give it a try. They were so cute!

While swim lessons are fun, I will be glad when they are done. It eats up a good bit of our evening. Also, I am not able to go to the gym because of when we get home. I am having to save every drop of milk I get for our 4-day California trip, so I can’t afford for Chris to give Tyler a bottle. Right now I have like 34 ounces frozen – I have to get to 120 oz and I am freezing about 4 ounces a day right now. On top of that, Tyler is getting bigger and wanting more milk…. I am trying to get the factory to up capacity.. :-p

Anyway – need to take this energy surge and use it for work before it is gone. Have a good day.

Confirmation of what we already knew…..

June 20th, 2005 by Alyssa

It blows my mind that in a mere 10 years the programming wave has past. Programming jobs are losing their luster. Offshoring has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, leading me away from any hard core programming and more into the “business facing” roles they describe in the article. I am seriously thinking about retooling and going into finance. I will have to dabble a bit to see if I have any passion for it. My brother is in corporate finance, so it is a bit amusing to me. We have always been like twins..

I think I would use the finance more to round out my business background. I am more interested in building organizations and helping people. If Chris’ career can afford me the flexibility, I would be more interested in helping to run a non-profit. Being a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters, my head was reeling with ideas of how the organization could extend its reach and strengthen its community of matches. The organization had a great deal of turnover which cost them progress.

I want a well-rounded understanding of a business operations. I have some understanding of people, process and technology, but the numbers make it possible. In a non-profit, you need the numbers before you can accomplish anything.
