Ah, was up night before last watching Daily Show. I haven’t watched that show in months. I miss it – so damn funny!
I suppose as Tyler grows older, TV will become more of a guily pleasure to be done after he goes to sleep. I suppose it is a good thing – I want to be reading more anyway. As it is, I don’t read at all right now. I have a ton of awesome books waiting for me too….
Congrats to Mike and Elizabeth
Our friend Mike and Elizabeth and a baby boy – William Loring! Congrats to them… and we wish you lots of sleep!
Little Sister Growing Up
I took Olivia to the mall last night to buy shoes to go with her prom dress. I can’t belive it has been nearly 4 years that we have been matched. It has really flown by. I don’t know if I had any impact on her; although, I know she definitely had an impact on me. The best part was just reminding me to have fun and be silly. Geez, she got me back to Shlitterban where I hadn’t been since I was 14 years-old. Good stuff. If you have the time and are looking for a volunteering gig – I would highly recommend Big Brothers Big Sisters…..
To the Spa…
I cannot wait for Saturday – I am going to Daya Day Spa for a massage and facial!! Should be so relaxing. I need to get a lot of sleep tonight though so I don’t sleep through it all! :-p

So here are some images of what the golf ball sized hail did to our property. Luckily no windows were broken. We are still waiting on an appraiser to check out our roof. I think the saddest thing is that all of our plants were blooming beautifully and now they just look beaten up.

Saturday
Saturday was Chris’ day. He went for a ride, took Rosie to the vet and saw “Sin City” with Charles and Andy. I am heading off to the spa next weekend, so this was his day to get out and have some fun. I got a lot done around the house. That afternoon Tyler wouldn’t take his nap, so after a walk, we dedided to get some Tyler bluebonnet pics. They came out so great – we will be posting soon! Also we went to REI and got a Burley D’Lite bike trailer/jogger combo and then picked up dinner at Whole Foods.
Tyler should have been fussy given the lack of sleep, but he was a complete angel! After getting his down that night, he woke up again. Chris and I just put him in between us on the couch and he cooed and giggled at both of us for a good 15 minutes before he decided that he wanted to go to bed.
Sunday
This day, we got up and got a few more things done – I took Tyler to the grocery store. My good friend Steph was in town and came over to visit with her boyfriend, Steve. Tyler was sleeping and then eating, so they didn’t get to play with him too much.
It was so great to visit and catch up – I miss Steph, my partner in crime, being here so much! After they left we packed up Tyler and went to the Fine Arts Festival. It was great! We saw some great photography and art and heard this great band, Brave New Combo! They played the most-rockin’ version of the hockey pokey I have ever heard. We met up with our friends Sammy and Susan and their daughter Piper and just enjoyed the afternoon. Was a wonderful way to close out the weekend. Tyler crashed when we got home, so we watched a movie, Igby Goes Down, and then went to bed.
Wakin’ up Early
Tyler still has this mysterious stuffy nose thing. It woke him up at 6am both Saturday and Sunday and at 2am last night. It really has me puzzled because I can’t get to the congestion to suck it out. It is way up in his sinuses and the decongestant doesn’t seem to be helping. Dunno – hope this passes with the Spring.
Takin’ care of me
This is a lesson that has taken me a while to learn. But I bought plenty of snacks and good stuff for me to eat and drink. And Sunday night, I was tired, so after we made dinner – I did NOTHING. We watched a movie and I didn’t worry about chores. I realize that I need my rest and I need good fuel – when I have noth those it helps me maintain sanity…
Anyway, I have a CRAZY week here at work. I have this ridiculous RFP to complete, so I best be scootin’ Take care!

Remember that song from Tears for Fears? I caught the very end of Real Genius (remember that movie?). The credits were rolling and that song was playing – such a GREAT song. For whatever reason – it takes me back to my grandparents house. We were up there some weekend – my birthday I think – and were watching Wimbleton. That was the theme song that year – such an awesome song…
Been a While….
I know it has been a while. Life got pretty crazy after Tyler got sick and is just now seeming to slow down.
The biggest storm in 13 years!
…and I totally missed it!
We had one heck of a hail storm here while Chris and I were in Georgetown. Apparently it has been 13 years since this neighborhood has seen golf ball size hail. Everyone’s roofs are in bad shapa. Our nieghbors back windows were blown out, several people’s cars were dented, our fences have dents and scars and our gardens and trees were pummled. We heard that everyone’s yards were covered in ice and it was still melting by the next day. Just crazy! I am so weather obsessed – I can’t believe I missed it…
Meltdown
I had a meltdown yesterday and it wasn’t pretty. Lack of sleep, stress, who knows what combination of stuff triggered it. As is usual with meltdowns, I feel much better today – more rational and more sane. I guess I just need them every once in a while. It forces me to stop and remember to take care of myself – something I am so bad about doing. I run myself into the ground…and that is what happens. (Chris would like me to include that this meltdown included the usual reaming out of my husband blaming him for my problems – he was reading over my shoulder). Sadly, I do this – it is because I am so mad at myself and it is easier to beat someone else up for a while instead of myself. Not something I am proud of and something I am working on.
Tyler
So ya would think that he must be really fussy with my meltdown and all. Actually – he has been a blast and had been on heck of a “happy” streak lately. Even at daycare – he has been fine. I asked Vanessa, one of his caregivers, how he was today. She said “great, of course”. He giggles and smiles and shows off those adorable dimples. I LOVE those smiles. I make this noise “guh-guh” and he starts cracking up – I have no idea what the joke is. He has started grabbing at things and of course, everything goes into his mouth. He is also cooing and babbling…
We have a pretty reliable bedtime routine now – bath around 8- 8:15pm, nurse after and then in bed by 8:45 – 9pm. He wakes up once or twice to nurse over the course of the night and is up around 7 – 7:30 am. I am enjoying having an hour or so at night to do a few things before bed.
Dunno – we are getting the hang of it although “it” changes all the time. I really only create problems when I try to do too much – that is really where the stress comes from. Right now as long as Tyler gets his naps during the day – he is a pretty fun baby.
Well – this is getting long and I should get going – I apparently have misplaced something and have to find it for Chris. Take care!
